Casted in November 2022 in a cow bell foundry in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the MMXXII bells resonate now four times a day in the Dufour school in Biel.

Hermès Switzerland asked Mathieu Rivier, Pauline Saglio and I, to design the windows for its Geneva and Zürich stores.

In a voyage throughout the day, from sunrise to the middle of the night, the Hermès products become the protagonists of a story.

A plate becomes the sun, bags are carried by breathing clouds, the new Soleil d'Hermès collection is presented on a paddle wheel which activate a swing,.. 

The installation mixes motorised mobiles and screens which are all synchronised in an idea of an invisible breath spreading through all ten windows. 

The installation is visible from from August till October.

In the frame of a pop-up presentation, the Gewerbemuseum Winterthur has invited four Swiss design galleries to put their programs and visions into dialogue. 

On the occasion, the Mass Mirror Tray and Mass Log Box, are presented by Second Nature Gallery.

Arita Carved Volume N°3 is presented by Objects with Love.

For its debut, Vaarnii launched its first collection at Artek showroom in Helsinki.

Essential design meets refinement in Vaarnii objects; the brutal and the sophisticated combine. This is fitting for a brand born in a land of extremes.

Vaarnii is dedicated to creating a new Finnish vernacular based on these principles; to being local, honest, complex, and enduring.

- DB20 for Pool within the "Inspired by Switzerland" exhibition

Initiated by QG / Quartier General, an art association located in the former slaughterhouse in La Chaux-de-Fonds (CH), the project "A Table", brings together 8 designers with 8 craftsmen to design and produce a series of tableware inspired by a menu created by the renowned chef Loïc Gabus.

On the occasion, I created a collection of skewers, exploring potential variations of an archetypal object in a sort of alphabet of shapes.

Very proud to be part of the Swiss Design / Made in Japan exhibition opening today in Tokyo!

Curated by David Glaettli, the exhibition showcases projects laying bridges between Switzerland and Japan.

All projects I developed in Japan recently are part of the show including Bimu Light, developed with Ishinomaki Laboratory, Parabole Light for KNS

and for the first time some pieces of the two last collection I have been developing respectively in Wajima and in Arita earlier this year.

The exhibition is an initiative of the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan, and part of the Embassy's campaign, “Doors to Switzerland”, on the road to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

On the occasion of Karimoku New Standard - KNS- 10th anniversary, 

I presented a series of light that would become canvas playing with light and shadows on their surfaces.

This year I organized a trip to the remote city of Wajima in Japan.

Wajima is the city of Urushi, the traditional Japanese laquer.

On the occasion of the new exhibition «Home Futures» at the Design Museum London, 

I am very happy that the project MII (Modularity is Interaction) is visible another time amongst great pieces, in a fully reviewed version by Mathieu Rivier and me.

The exhibition « Home Futures » runs from November 7th till March 24th.

Invited by Prohelvetia, The VPTC collection in its whole will be shown for the first time in UK at Design Junction in a scenography by Livia Lauber.

Their proportions as well as their textures are designed so they can work independently or together as an ensemble.

End of May this year (late news...) I have been invited by Sobranie Foundation from Magnezite group and Prohelvetia for the Satka Architecture Festival in Russia.

The aim of the project was to use Magnezite stone as a starting point for a one week project, implicating volunteers from the town.

The next show Part II of collection #3, curated by Matylda Krzykowski at the Gallery in New York will also include one piece of the VPTC collection.

The principle of IHP consists of an industrial material, aluminum, processed with a brutal handmade technique for giving it its texture.

Industrial Handmade Patterns

The project started in 2014 with a series of two aluminum plates designed for the NOV Gallery in Geneva.

The shape was carved by hand (Bähler himself) with a stone chisel, a hammer (and strength) in a massive aluminum bloc.
The base, on the other hand, consists of two standard aluminum tubes.
The final treatment (smooth and clean) amplifies the idea of
“Industrial Handmade”.

The result plays on the tension  that finds itself in the object, between smooth and structured, hard and soft, metallic but almost animal…

I am very honoured to announce to you that I have been invited by Villa Noailles to present my new ceramic collection for the first time on the occasion of Design Parade 11!
The show will take place in the Gymnase room of the Villa from the 1st of July until the 11th of September.

Volumes, Patterns, Textures and Colors is a ceramic collection coming from an ongoing research project I started at EKWC in 2013 and developed at CERCCO last Winter, two renowned ceramic residencies respectively in the Netherlands and in Switzerland.

Starting with the idea of working on a new decor technique that would be as precise as transfer but with a 3d texture, the project integrated later other techniques with specific tools or glazes.

Tending to an essential typology, the volumes have been designed regarding production optimization as well as being an experimentation support for patterns, textures and colours application. They play with a certain abstraction level sometimes preferring the surface work to the function they may have.

In the collection I am presenting at the Villa Noailles, there are various dispenser shapes, vases, and undefined objects composing a kind of dictionary that will still grow in the future.

Recently, VPT&C has won the Grand Prize of the Courtrai Biennale Interieur Awards 2016.

The Digital Humanities Lab from EPFL, in collaboration with Vacheron Constantin’s Heritage Department, has developed digitization principles for ancient handwriting recognition. Together with semantic text mining, the researchers are able to constitute a coherent historical narrative. EPFL+ECAL Lab’s role has brought these newly vivified archives back to life. Next to two other concepts, I developped a custom version of a vision mask that emphasise this idea of a time travel, redefining our relationship with the digital—in the service of the manufacturer’s history and values.

In 2015, USM Modular Furniture Haller will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

To mark this milestone, USM is launching an international initiative called project50, designed to bring together future creative talents from all over the world.

From September 14th to 21st, a workshop around the topic "Rethink the Modular", curated by Tido von Oppeln and Burkhard Meltzer, took place in Boisbuchet. with seven different groups coming from seven schools around the world.

I was asked to be the tutor for the ecal group.

Linn Kandel, Sylvain Aebischer, Sarha Duquesne, Valentine Dubois, Christophe Guberan, Marie Douel, Manuel Amaral Netto, Yann Mathys were the eight product designers and Mathieu Rivier, Joëlle Aeschliman and Pauline Saglio the three media and interaction designers.

Together we worked on movement and rhythm in modularity...

A new series of modular monumental lights, commissioned by the architects Kaiser&Wittwer, were recently installed in La Colline, a retirement home in Switzerland.

After the Hors Pistes show at Le Grand Hornu, one of the mask from the series Légendes Urbaines has been chosen to be part of the museum's collection!

Erumbu is part of a eight masks family that I created in collaboration with local craftsmen in Ouagadougou last september, during the first Hors Pistes workshop.

The project Patterns & Colors, showed for the first time at the Villa Noailles in Hyères last year, will be exhibited on the occasion of the Swiss Design Award 2014 during Art Basel from 17th to 22nd of June.

Légendes Urbaines, a project designed and produced during the first Hors Pistes workshop in Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, will be presented with the whole collection at La Fabbrica del Vappore during the Milan Design week.

Volet Hook, now produced by HAY will be presented during the Milan Design week!

A new project, UU, designed in collaboration with Linn Kandel and Ismaël Studer, will also be part of that new collection!
