MATERIAL IMAGE

SECOND NATURE

, 2021

Driven by a visual research essentially based on practical experimentation, the project explores the potential of 3d textures, coloured glasses and different printed transparent papers layering, the series is a kind of freeze frame in a research process that is close to collage.

First perceived as conventional paintings, the notion of depth is then understood and according to the angle of observation. In the middle, an organic shape comes into dialogue with the rigidity of the frame as well as the hardness of the glass while blurring the lines of a purely material approach. The Material Image series consists of square formats, each functioning as a separate entity or as a whole.
